Abstract: Traceability in the agriculture supply chain is required to improve a firm's credibility and the quality of food, fruits and related products. From its growing to reaching the hands of the end consumer, fruit passes through several processes and value additions in the supply chain whose integration is critical. In this paper, researchers present FruitBlock, a blockchain-based traceability application for fruits. An architecture design of traceability is presented with a view of those multi-party transactions needed for traceability systems for fruit farming in the Indian context. The grower instantiates the fruit in the ledger as a fruit asset containing information regarding the current owner and the ownership transfers that happen in the supply chain are stored immutably onto the ledger on a real-time basis which can trace the fruit through the supply chain. Using the application, the researchers have traced apples travelling from grower to consumer.
