Abstract: The present study aims to explore the effect of perceived corporate social responsibility on task performance and employee engagement in the telecom sector of Pakistan. A closed-ended questionnaire was administered through an online survey to collect data from 352 telecom employees across the country from 15 January 2021 to 15 February 2021. A sample represents nearly 45% of females and 55% male. The relationship between variables was tested using partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) using the PLS algorithm, bootstrapping, and blindfolding techniques. The research findings involve the significant effect of perceived corporate social responsibility on task performance and employee engagement. In addition, employee engagement was also found to have a significant influence on task performance. Furthermore, this study evidenced the partial mediation of employee engagement. The present research explains 43.8% changes in employee engagement and 28.8% in task performance.

Keywords: perceived corporate social responsibility; employee engagement; task performance; social identity and exchange theory.
