Abstract: Organisational performance has been examined in a wide array of organisational studies. This study aims to identify the variables that influence organisational performance in public higher education institutions in Lebanon. To answer our research questions, we gathered variables from existing literature. We then generated our hypotheses, which were verified using the survey technique. Structural equation modelling using the partial least square-path modelling (PLSPM) method was used to analyse the survey's results. The study found that work environment characteristics and individual characteristics mediated the relation between external environment characteristics and organisational performance. However, a direct link was found between individual characteristics, work environment characteristics, external environment characteristics, and the construct job characteristics. Remarkably, we did not find a direct link between job characteristics and organisational performance. The study highlights some recommendations to increase organisational performance of the Lebanese University.
