Abstract: This research aims at comparing the private and public sectors in Jordan to determine which sector has a higher turnover rate. Intention to quit and the differences in the private and public sector can be associated with factors promoting satisfaction and dissatisfaction among employees. This research utilises the quantitative research approach, where data collected are presented statistically to demonstrate responses to various questions presented to respondents. The research comprises a sample of 405 respondents whose intention to quit was queried using a questionnaire. Employees in the private sector were more likely to be actively seeking a new job, seriously thinking of leaving and less obligated to stay with their current employer compared to public sector employees. In addition, men were less likely to be emotionally attached to the organisation or willing to spend the remaining part of their careers in their current organisation compared to women and employees overall. Intention to quit was highest between the ages of 25-45.
