Abstract: This research's goal is to study two particle system's interaction in two-dimensional framework for the cases where the interacting particles are either permeable or impermeable in nature. The numerical technique implemented to solve this problem is immersed boundary (IB) method. Two scenarios of interacting particles having same permeability (case 1) and different permeabilities (case 2) are considered. Case 3, studies the interaction between an impermeable and permeable particle. The results obtained indicates that the permeability value of the particle plays a vital role to the interacting dynamics between the particles. In the end, we compared our computed results of settling velocities of particles with existing analytical expressions.
