Abstract: Student project assignment problem is a complex real world problem. A project is an integral part of the curriculum of engineering undergraduate or post graduate programs of any university. This study presents the mathematical modeling of multi-objective student project assignment problem under crisp and fuzzy environment. To develop these proposed models, preferences over student, project and student-project pair are incorporated. The crisp model is solved by using fuzzy programming technique and the optimal allocations of projects to students are generated by minimising the dissatisfaction of students, administrator and supervisor under the capacity constraints on project and supervisor. Fuzzy model is developed with preferences computed based on students performance and supervisor feedback analysis. Possibility approach is applied to convert fuzzy preferences into crisp ones and solved it by fuzzy programming technique. One numerical example on each model demonstrates the effectiveness and efficiency of the model based on hypothetical data. Sensitivity analysis carried out to enlighten the effect of uncertainty in the decision maker's fuzzy judgments. Student project assignment problem by fuzzy programming technique generates multiple efficient solutions with linear and nonlinear membership functions. The results are obtained using LINGO 19.0 software.
