Abstract: Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET) is an infrastructureless network, where the nodes are self-configuring and form the network without any central coordinator. Several works are proposed on MANET based applications to ensure the Quality of Service (QoS). Owing to the absence of central monitoring, MANET experiences various issues like packet loss, topological control and delay. Various types of Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocols have been proposed in the literature and they have many issues in terms of delay, packet delivery and throughput. Fuzzy Logic based AODV (FL-AODV) protocol is proposed in this work in which each node in the network has to find the number of packets in the queue and calculate the weight value which is used to predict the best routing path for ongoing transmission. The local agents are nominated to collect and process the information. The local agent performs the decision based routing by using fuzzy inference model. The proposed approach performs better than existing AODV schemes and Cross Layer Contention based MAC (CLCMAC) in terms of energy utilisation, delay, packets drop, delivery ratio and throughput.
