Abstract: The rapid development of start-up and its ecosystems in the last two decades has become an interesting topic of research because of its role in improving a country's economy. The aim of this study is to present the definition of start-up based on the latest study along with relevant data related to start-ups development. The method used was by mapping previous studies and classifying the core keyword points of start-up definitions so that it can be seen as a comparison to emphasis on the meaning and the usage of the term start-up before and after the year 2000. Ninety-six articles were mapped and analysed in this study and from the results of this study, the authors presented some new definitions that have been extracted from various definitions of the previous studies. Thus, from the observation of the data on start-up ecosystem literature study, the authors want to provide new inspiration and input for research related to start-ups and its ecosystems that will be conducted in the future.
