Abstract: In this work, we consider the finite capacity of the D/G/1 queue. First, the modelling of the system in question by an embedded Discrete-Time Markov chain is considered. Secondly, the aim is to illustrate the use of the discrete kernel method for the estimation of the stationary characteristics of this chain, when the general distribution that governs it is an unknown function. To support and illustrate our proposals, two extensive simulation studies are carried out.

Keywords: deterministic queues; Markov chains; smoothing parameter; discrete kernels; errors; simulation.
