Abstract: Exploiting mobile sinks to reduce the energy consumption among one hop sensors is the area focused more on by the researchers in recent years. The paper suggests on dividing the network into triangular partitions where each partition is assigned with one mobile sink for the purpose of data gathering. The data gathered by the mobile sinks are communicated to the base station through multi hop communication. The work proposes a predetermined trajectory for the mobile sinks to travel and collect data from the sensor nodes. The paper also proposes a clustering procedure for the sink nodes to establish data collection trees. Simulation experiments showcase better performance of the proposed work in comparison with existing model. Performance of the algorithm is measured in terms of network lifetime, energy consumption, number of alive and dead nodes after a specific set of rounds. Proposed scheme outperforms the existing schemes in all the parameters.
