Abstract: This paper considers differences in five dimensions of strategic philosophy between American and Mexican managers. Findings suggest that Mexican managers were more likely than their American counterparts to view strategy as a scientific process, to favour an open strategy dialogue, and to embrace risk as an integral part of the strategy process. No significant differences between American and Mexican managers were found concerning preferences for strategic flexibility versus consistency and a top-down formulation process.
