Abstract: At present, there is no research on the use of cellular automata for the study of complex network community division. This paper takes the complex network as the research object, firstly proposes a simple network centre node determination method, and based on the connection status between the non-central node and the central node in the network, divides the network nodes into three categories, that are α (non-central node, and only directly connected to one central node), β (non-central node, and directly connected to multiple central nodes) and γ (non-central node, and not directly connected to any central node). Then, the cellular automaton is used as the computing framework, and the central node, the node connected to the centre, and the node not connected to the centre are used to construct the three-dimensional cell space, and defines rules for updating the connection among α, β and γ. Defining the rules for updating the connection between γ and the central nodes and the edge update rules between α and β with central nodes which allows nodes in a network community to connect to community centres with only a certain weight. Based on the above rules, we explore the process of community structures emerging. Finally, using a number of datasets to verify the algorithm proposed in this paper, and the results show that the rules defined in this paper can be used to complete the division of the network community while a new structure emerges on the network.
