Abstract: Service gateways are key for the integration of different technologies on smart environments. In the home entertainment domain, a challenging field is the creation of media data flows among heterogeneous devices. This kind of technology could support a broad range of services. The proposed approach introduces a middleware layer built around a service gateway. The gateway stores information and capabilities of each multimedia source or target in a directory which can be browsed. A seamless connection is performed through translation services for media data and events. Finally, the admission service dynamically controls the available bandwidths and computing power consumption.
