Abstract: Globally, government agencies have adopted ICTs in the process of service delivery especially in developing countries. Protecting the assets of government is a crucial responsibility and priority. Assets include sensitive information such as citizen or client records, financial data and the IT infrastructure of the institution, government or organisation. These attacks can be executed in different ways causing different extents of damage. DDoS attacks have continued to be a threat to network assets and services, and predictions by experts in the field of network security place these attacks at severe in the near future. The authors study the classification of DDoS attacks which can threaten enterprise service-oriented network DNS components, the authors predict severity and mitigation approaches systematically. Finally, the authors analyse and assess the advantages and risks of the emerging usage of enterprise infrastructures, and assert the various kinds of DDoS attack tools.
