Abstract: Despite the importance of organisational change, perceptions of change implementation success are mixed and incomplete. To date, the organisational change literature has failed to directly examine the relationship between organisational change and the work-family interface. To address this deficit, the present study assessed the role that work-family conflict plays in perceptions of successful change implementation. Results indicated that perceptions of change implementation success were positively associated with increased work-to-family conflict. However, family-to-work conflict was not significantly related to perceptions of change implementation success. From these findings, it is posited that implementing change initiatives can have negative effects on employees and subsequently the organisation. Because change is a core and often necessary part of organisations, recommendations to mitigate the negative impact of change on employees are offered.
