Abstract: Peptides are one of the significant biomolecules and are the rudimentary constituent of cells found in all living organisms. They possess tremendous characteristic features including structural diversity, stability, mature combination protocols, easy modification feasibilities, high affinity to proteins, immense chemical versatility, etc. All these promising features allowed peptides to be used in different fields for various applications. Peptides have a great influence on the microbial world. They get involved in various life stages of the cell such as growth and development, reproduction (cell culture), communication, defence, etc. in the microbial community. Antimicrobial peptides are fundamental constituents in all classes of organisms that have a major role in microbial ecology and have a significant contribution to the intrinsic immunity of life forms by attacking microorganisms. AMPs result in drastic effects in both microbial as well as mankind. AMPs have been applied as radiopharmaceuticals, therapeutic-tools, biomarkers, bacterial and other microbial resistance, etc.

Keywords: peptides; microbes; resistance; antimicrobial effect; therapeutic.
