Abstract: Based on the market structure of China's internet backbone, this paper analyses the optimal selection of the interconnection modes between the asymmetric internet backbones by constructing a dynamic game model. The analysis results show that the selection is related to differences in the network scale between the backbones. When small differences exist between the weak backbone scale and the dominant backbone scale, the paid peering mode can be chosen; the transit mode can be chosen otherwise. The introduction of transit has promoted competition between the backbones.

Keywords: internet backbone; interconnection mode; peering; transit.
