Abstract: To build a progressive learning culture, managers in work situations capitalise on different learning styles of employees and accelerate their orientation in the learning process. This research study has empirically tested the effect of learning styles of employees on their learning orientation. Quantitative data regarding learning styles and learning orientation were collected from 270 respondents of 12 manufacturing companies in India. Path analysis was performed through structural equation modelling and the direct and indirect effects of the learning styles were determined by decomposing the structural equations. The study demonstrated that reactive, experimental, deliberative, and inspiring learning styles affect explorative learning orientation and reactive, experimental, harmonic, and inspiring learning styles affect exploitative learning orientation with varying levels of significant impact.

Keywords: learning style; learning orientation; exploitative learning; explorative learning; structural equation model; path analysis.
