Abstract: Research on environmental issues has gained significant attention from researchers and practitioners about the understanding of how employee green behaviour (EGB) protects the natural environment from the destructive effects of businesses. Based on social learning theory (SLT), this study investigated how ethical leadership (EL) influence EGB. Additionally, this study examined the role of employee green commitment as a mediator of the relationship between EL and EGB. Data were collected in two waves by using self-administered surveys from the manufacturing industry in Pakistan. The results showed a positive relationship between EL and EGB. Furthermore, employee green commitment mediates the relationship between EL and EGB. The present study proposes EL as a way forward to develop environmentally friendly organisational practices. In addition to important theoretical implications, the study would foreground several practical implications, particularly for policymakers and managers who are concerned about the environmental effects of business and shaping eco-friendly organisational practices.
