Abstract: In recent years, the UAE, with governmental support, has positioned itself as a hub of Islamic banking in the MENA region. This paper assesses e-financial reporting disclosure (e-FRD) in selected Islamic banks and Islamic windows in the UAE in 2017. e-FRD was estimated using an index containing 90 constructs based on and developed from previous studies. As of 2017, the surveyed Islamic banks and Islamic windows in the UAE manifested a substantial level of e-FRD at 73.4%. In attempting to explain this substantial level of e-FRD, the level of e-FRD in UAE-based Islamic banks and Islamic windows at a level of 73.4% marginally exceeds that reported in earlier studies indicative of a growth in e-FRD. In terms of practical implications, the present study tries to provide a background on e-FRD among Emirati Islamic banks affording the Islamic banking authority in the UAE in determining the need for intervention (if any) to enhance the transparency in the sector for the satisfaction of relevant stakeholders. The e-FRD is expected to provide more exposure and global reach to the Emirati Islamic banks with increased efficiency, transparency and accountability.
