Abstract: In this paper, 'outage centre' has been defined as the building where repair crew are dispatched from to the failure location in order to restore power. This paper has proposed a practical model of optimal allocation of the outage centres to minimise outages cost and improve system reliability simultaneously. The stepwise approach to obtain the optimum site of the outage centre in a 'work location' has been presented. Finally, the implementation of the proposed model is discussed in a sample network which consists of 81 buses. Analysis of the indices sensitivity to parameters has been also carried out and discussed.

Keywords: optimal allocation of the outage centre; travel time; electricity distribution company.
