Abstract: In the modern industrial world, steam is widely used to generate electricity, power transmission and heating purposes where direct heating is not possible as in petroleum, food, paper and other industries. The paper describes the engineering design and analysis of vertical fire-tube, wood fired boiler as per Indian Boiler Regulation with 50 litre capacity, maximum working pressure of 7 bar and steam generation rate of 26 kg/h for agro-dairy system. Vertical fire-tube boiler is used for the process of indirect heating using steam. Indian Boiler Regulations are followed to design boiler shell, fire tubes, furnace, boiler mountings such as water level indicator, safety valve, pressure gauges, fusible plug, feed check valve, steam stop valve, blow-down valve and accessories like feed pump and blower. CATIA V5 (R21) software is used to make general assembly 3D model and analysis of the components is carried out by using ANSYS. After design, boiler mountings, pump and blower are selected and mounted on the boiler in the general assembly model. From the analysis it can be concluded that the calculations are within permissible working condition of boiler and the design is complete, safe and accepted by Shri Sadguru Agri Dairy System Solution. The project is also a preliminary step to obtain certification from Indian boiler regulation for a boiler.
