Abstract: Aiming at the parameter regulation problem of hydraulic turbine regulating system (HTRS) with the 'water hammer' effect, combining the advantages of fuzzy PID and fuzzy differential evolution algorithm (FDE), a fuzzy PID-FDE method for optimising the parameters of the HTRS is proposed. It is used for the regulation simulation of the regulating system of the hydraulic turbine under two different disturbance conditions. The simulation results of the HTRS show that the FDE method can break through the stagnation of the DE algorithm in the later stage and continue to find a better solution. The search speed is faster than other methods but slower than fuzzy particle swarm optimisation (PSO). At the same time, the simulation results also show that the parameters optimised by fuzzy PID-FDE are better, which makes the response of the simulation curve of HTRS to step signal smoother and more stable, with less overshoot and faster response speed. Fuzzy PID-FDE is helpful to the theory and practice of parameter optimisation of the steam turbine governing system.
