Abstract: The CFD modelling could be used as a useful tool for thermal treatments optimisation. Indeed, CFD make it possible to understand the waste incineration process better, and to characterise the problems encountered in furnaces. Then, optimisation proposals concerning the design of the furnace and/or the plant operation can be advanced. Measurements campaigns have to be carried out, in order to validate the modelling results. The paper presents comparison of measurements and modelling for one plant and the operation optimisation using modelling of another plant. It was concluded that numerical simulation can be used to help day-to-day operation.
