Abstract: The purpose of this study was to explore the success of the Lebanese educational international development projects and find the relationship between contextual, EIDPs and project management critical success factors and project success as perceived by project teams working in Lebanon. We found that the creation and adoption of a proper execution plan as well as the favourable political, economic, social and cultural conditions and the existence of an adequate organisational infrastructure explained 70.8% of project success. The contextual factors alone explained 60.7% of the success whereas the variables peculiar to EIDP explained 60.6% of it.

Keywords: project success; critical success factors; international development projects; IDPs; educational projects; Lebanon.
