Abstract: Electrical and electronic equipment have become indispensable in the lifestyle of modern societies. This paper covers green product designs in the electronic segment and challenges. Expert's opinion is taken to get insights into the green product design mechanisms and challenges faced in the development and market adoption phases. ISM is used to analyse the relationships among the identified challenges. To recognise the dependence and driving power of identified challenges, a MICMAC analysis is performed. It is found that the lack of provisions in existing regulations to support green and sustainable product design development creates a significant challenge to the green movement. This research may help governing bodies of large economies make favourable regulatory reforms to achieve sustainable development goals.

Keywords: green innovation adoption; sustainable development; interpretive structural modelling; ISM; MICMAC analysis; Pareto analysis; MCDM.
