Title: Home-based entrepreneuring for empowerment and sustainability of Muslim women: a study in the Indian context

Abstract: Women empowerment through entrepreneurship has been an area of active research and many studies established the positive relation of women empowerment and sustenance with their entrepreneurial activity. The aim of this research study is to explore the liberation and emancipation of Muslim women through their home-based entrepreneuring. Also, the dimension of work stress as an impact of home-based entrepreneurship is also covered. Home-based entrepreneurial activities include - beauty salon, tailoring and fashion designing and tuition services of the sample investigated for the study. The impact of flexibility of home-based entrepreneuring to manage home and entrepreneurial responsibility at the same time and place is studied. Both structured and semi-structured interviews are conducted with 20 home-based women entrepreneurs working in beauty, tailoring/boutique, tuition services belonging to Muslim dominated area of South Delhi, India. Empowerment and liberation along with work stress have been found to be the major outcomes of women-led and women-owned home-based enterprise.
