Abstract: Here, we present a secure cloud-based healthcare framework using wireless body area network (WBAN). WBAN may suffer from various security attacks and threats that need to be resolved to provide real-time health monitoring and support. Patients' vital biological signals can be accessed by the doctor using sensors, network, and cloud without physical visit of patient to the doctor's clinic or hospital. This cloud-based system provides secure health data transmission framework assuring security requirements, e.g., confidentiality, integrity, and authentication using cloud. This cost-effective solution uses biological signals of both patients and doctors to provide authentication, patients' vital signals are encrypted using variants of advanced encryption standard (AES) technique to provide confidentiality. The integrity of the sensitive patient data is ensured by SHA-256. We have experimentally analysed that average end to end delay for secure healthcare application is 19.34 msec with authentication and confidentiality only for AES. However, with integrity and secure key exchange for AES, the average end-to-end delay is 36.95 msec, 49.58 msec and 73.48 msec for AES128, AES192, and AES256 respectively. These delays are within the permissible delay limit of 250 msec for medical application.
