Abstract: As electricity shortage has been increasing day by day and conventional power system does not fulfil this exponentially increasing demand because every consumer depend on the main central generation unit, so this central energy generation network must be converted in to the distributed decentralised generation unit and for this more distributed energy resources are integrating in to the existing distribution network, extra power produced can be saved in distributed energy storage system (DESS). Since battery is the main building block of DESS, so linearised battery model is derived with the help of simple matrix manipulation and quantitative battery management system, of DC-DC bi-directional converter, bi-directional inverter and controlling circuitry of battery management system is designed. Software tool MATLAB (SIMULINK) version is used for the testing of simulation result. Results shows that proposed linearised battery model and estimated state of charge with the help of Kalman filter is more efficient as compared to the nonlinear model.
