Abstract: Leadership in healthcare is of great importance due to the complexity, diversity, and the special nature of this industry as well as the great impact of its leaders on human lives. Appointing healthcare leaders is not possible nowadays only depending on their medical degree or technical skills. Having the core competencies and skills of leaders is now so essential. Some of those competencies include proactivity, motivation, and change initiation. This paper is a systematic review paper using Arksey and O'Malley's methodology. This study gives an understanding of the current situation of healthcare leadership. Then, it discusses the different styles and tools used by healthcare leaders to increase their success rates. It also highlights some approaches that are used to prepare and develop new healthcare leaders. Some limitations of this paper include evidence selection bias like inclusion bias due to the fact of having only one author.
