Abstract: In the current era of intensive competition, the application of total quality management (TQM) has gained tremendous attention of the manufacturing organisations across the globe. Manufacturing organisations are deploying their resources for the prosperous implementation of TQM. TQM implementation has become a matter of great concern for the manufacturing organisations as a consequence of various barriers impeding its implementation process. In view of this, there is utmost need for the manufacturing organisations to know the significance and importance of these barriers. In this paper, an endeavour has been carried out to prioritise the different barriers of TQM using a relatively new, simple and effective multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method, i.e., best-worst method (BWM). Results of the present research work can be utilised by the manufacturing organisations for developing the proper strategies for tackling the TQM barriers in order to successfully implement TQM to derive its prolific benefits.
