Abstract: The main contribution of this paper is a satisfactory result control, optimisation of a wind turbine based on a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). This system contains a 1.5 MW wind turbine, gearbox, and a DC/AC inverter. Numerical simulation implementation of this model under MATLAB/SIMULINK are reached using a different toolbox, a direct vector control with direct field oriented control (FOC) applied and two maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control, with and without speed control. For improving system performance under fast changing of wind speed conditions, the simulation results quickly and correctly tracks change in power set point. The disadvantage of classical FOC based on PI controller is eliminated by using a sliding mode controller. The result of the simulation shows good performance of the used method.
