Abstract: A Function-Behaviour-Effect-Structure (FBES) model is presented to construct the conceptual design reasoning framework by integrating the effects in TRIZ with FBS, which describes the mapping relations among function, behaviour, effect and structure. The conceptual design process based on the FBES model is proposed. The process cannot only be used in innovative design, but can also be used in improved design for an existing product. A design process for air exhaust valve in cars is carried out using that process.
