Abstract: The paper deals with the analysis of the food security drivers among the post-Soviet, Visegrad and Baltic countries in the framework of green economy and sustainable development goals. The hypothesis of the investigation is checking to link between governance efficiency and food security of the country. The governance efficiency is estimated through the World Governance Indicators while the Food Security Index determined the food security of the country. Using the GLS method, the significance and power's impact of political institutions' functioning and the quality of governmental regulation on food security was checked. Considering the findings and results of comparative analysis of EU agricultural policy, the authors allocated the three types of food security drivers: basic (the focus of efforts on reducing corruption and increasing political freedom); enforced (focus on extending the right to vote and improving government efficiency); and intense (ensuring the rule of law).
