Abstract: The paper aims to present the remediation of decay tanks for high-activity radioactive waste in ÚJV Řež Ltd. From 1961 to 1991, two decay tanks for high-activity radioactive waste were built in order to lower the activity over time. The paper shows procedures and technologies used for liquidation of contaminated fluid, and solid waste from both tanks as well as decontamination of surfaces of tanks and building. During the remediation works, was pursued monitoring of the environment in the areas nearby the locations of environmental burden. Throughout the remediation works T.G. Masaryk Water Research Institute p.r.i. monitored surroundings ground water and activity in nearby river Vltava.
