Abstract: The leadership styles by school teachers are an important aspect of the era of modern education and rapid urbanisation. Leadership styles must be chosen wisely as a teacher is said to be the one who can make or break the career of the student. This study tried to highlight the significant difference in perception of autocratic, democratic, and laissez-faire leadership styles based on gender and school type. The research design used in the study is exploratory cum descriptive. A sample of 200 respondents was selected from the teachers of private and public schools in Gurugram city. Confirmatory factor analysis has been used to verify the factor structure, and an independent-sample t-test has been used for checking the significant difference in the perception of various leadership styles based on gender and type of school selected for the study. This study highlighted that the mean value of the autocratic leadership style differs significantly based on the school category, and the mean values of the laissez-faire leadership style differ based on gender.
