Abstract: Air traffic in India has seen significant growth over the past few years. The growth story is likely to continue, and traffic is likely to grow up to 1.256 billion by the year 2040. The presence of seasonality in traffic due to holidays, religious events, etc. has been a concern for airports and airlines to manage the demand during such seasonal traffic. The paper attempts to analyse the seasonality at six major airports in India for domestic and international passenger traffic. HEGY method has been applied for monthly data of air traffic across these six airports for domestic and international air traffic, respectively. The results indicate the presence of different seasonality at these airports for domestic and international traffic.
