Abstract: Proliferation of sophisticated technologies has uncovered potential research avenues to understand factors for acceptance or rejection of these technologies. For decades, the technology acceptance model (TAM) has remained popular and robust to establish predictors of adoption and use of the technologies. Motivated by the advantages, our goals in the current work are threefold: 1) to extensively review recent developments and trends of TAM; 2) to identify possible future research directions of TAM; 3) to give our perspectives on how TAM may be extended to improve its predictive power. Therefore, using the concept-centric approach, 166 studies were recognised and categorised into reviews, extensions, and applications based on their contents and aims. Moreover, we have hypothesised that health status and financial constraints of consumers may moderate the relationship strengths among TAM constructs. Our contributions may assist developers harness the legacy of TAM to enhance their products and services.
