Abstract: Aviation business has become a costly affair with many research activities are in place to make it cost effective. One such area of research is effective use of service life of the aircraft known as total technical life (TTL). The present system of fixing the TTL for an aircraft is passive method in which, the predicted values are compared with the value which is obtained from sample aircraft especially monitored for this purpose. There is no active system of dynamic measurement on each aircraft for comparison with the tested value with safety factor in-build into the system. When the aircraft reaches the prescribed life limits, it is withdrawn from service though still useful life is available in the aircraft. Non availability of actual data is the cause for the underutilisation of aircraft. The suggested proposal makes it easy to capture the data for comparison with the tested data there by allows life extension in a scientific manner.
