Title: Effective factors on human capital retention in less prosperous regions: an empirical study

Abstract: Human resources are the key element in development and excellence of an organisation. As large global organisations owe their international success to committed knowledge labour force, adoption of sound policies and proper management is very important in survival and retention of human resources. Currently, human resources leave the organisations in less prosperous areas due to lack of attention to needs and proper management. This study tends to investigate effective factors on retention of human resources in less prosperous areas (Zahedan Payame Noor University). These factors are identified based on literature, and classified into four groups of environmental, organisational, managerial and individual factors. Statistical population of the study consists of 70 university staff and professors. Considering finite population of the study, a questionnaire is distributed among all people. The results showed that the factors studied in this study are effective on retention of human resources. Meanwhile, managerial factor has the greatest effect on human resource retention.
