Abstract: Computer-aided diagnostic systems are very important and crucial for patient's diagnosis and treatment planning. To automate such systems requires the combination of various different steps involved in the system. The variation in the process may make the system failure. Therefore, it is a need to analyse the system's workflow and to work on the challenges embedded in it. Imaging and automation challenges regarding computer-aided diagnosis are discussed in this paper. Each challenge is introduced within a computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system of craniofacial applications. The significance and importance of every challenge are described in the paper. The method to overcome the challenges and issues are also discussed as an advantage for the readers of the paper.
