Abstract: In this paper, a concept for a solution base for the material selection problem-solving process has been introduced by modifying the solution-base structure. To be able to solve the material selection problem, the existing material selection techniques were reviewed and the choice of the suitable technical, economic or techno-economic techniques is the task of the designer. An example that illustrates the application of this concept is presented.
