Abstract: Socio-economic factors are perceived as barriers to equity in health. This study examines the annual procedure volume of 1000 MRI sites in 120 counties of metropolitan areas in the USA. The results indicate that socio-economic factors have statistically significant associations with the observed rate of utilisation of MRI. Policy implications are discussed.
