Abstract: The study and researches related to wireless sensor networks (WSN) are growing today due to its various uses in different fields. Wireless sensor network includes many small nodes that have been located in an intended environment. Since the dimensions of these sensors are small, they work with non-rechargeable batteries as energy limited instruments. So, energy conservation is very important. Clustering the sensor nodes is an effective way to diminish the consumed energy of these networks. Accordingly, a novel clustering scheme which is based on density-based clustering approach is presented in this article. In this new method, nodes that have been located within proximity of each other, are placed in one cluster and unlike some algorithms, it is no need to determine the exact number of clusters. Simulation outcomes indicate that lifetime and total packet delivery of proposed method have been increased rather than other related methods.
