Abstract: The study addresses the effect of homogenisation on the second phase particles' sizes and volume. The study covered two magnesium-rich aluminium alloys with transition elements addition, 1565ch and 01570. Samples of both alloys were subjected to 8-16-h homogenisation at 350-450°С. After that the second phase particles' sizes and volume were defined using scanning and transmission microscopy. Due to chemical composition differences, the two alloys demonstrated different kinetics of the processes, occurring in the metal during homogenisation. Such differences are explained by high Mn content in 1565ch alloy and Sc presence in 01570 alloy. The effect of homogenisation practices on the structure ability to recrystallise after deformation is described.
