Abstract: Activities on rehabilitation of eleven temporary radwaste repositories are currently underway at the RRC |Kurchatov Institute|. Technologies used for exploratory drilling of repositories, their radiation survey, cleaning fill-up soil from the repository ceilings and opening the ceilings, RW extraction, sorting and packing in containers are presented. The radiation situation at the repository site as a whole was monitored with the help of a new gamma locator. These activities resulted in extraction and removal from the Kurchatov Institute site for long-term storage of more than 600 m³ of the waste with the total activity over 3.8 × 1012Bq (about 105 Ci).
