Abstract: This paper explore the basic elements of maritime transportation, which are the mandatory parts in planning and control activities among BRICS countries, starting from hinterland transportation to port of origin and further to port of destination and end customer in container terminals. It also includes the detailed explanation of the documents needed in on carriage and pre carriage for custom clearance and provides the awareness for minimising the time window of demurrage and detention to avoid or reduce the penalties, followed by terminal operator and ocean carrier responsibilities to arrange fast picking the full loaded containers and returning of the empty containers to depot, decided based on prior discussion held between carrier, terminal operator, freight forwarder and buyer besides this it also encompass the overall managerial activities at each level from supply end to delivery end, resulting managed manoeuvre of cargo containers with least delay in legal and handling processing and achieving satisfactory level.
