Abstract: This article deals with challenges for automatic identification systems in the supply chain. In this article there are described the most often used automatic identification systems that contribute to more effective information flow between individual elements of the supply chain. This article describes a potential way of integration of technologies automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) across the supply chain. The methodology for the selection of a suitable technological solution is described in a significant part of this article. As a suitable technological solution is understood the selection of proper AIDC technology, their combination respectively, based on pre-defined criteria.

Keywords: supply chain; radio frequency identification; RFID; automatic identification and data capture; AIDC; bar code; technology.
