Abstract: Migration of people, either as individuals or as a group, has often defined the history of the Jewish people. From their early history in the Land of Israel, Jews have migrated to various places, occasionally by their own will, more often pushed by others or forced to flee persecution and extermination. Since the middle of the 19th century, there have been five waves of Jewish emigrants to East and South East Asia. This paper deals with the sixth and current wave of Israelis who have settled in that part of the world in the past 25 years, what led them there, who are they, what do they engage in, what are their ties with the host communities and how do they see their future.
