Abstract: To improve the quality and cultural adaptability of Chinese-English translations of public signs in scenic areas, this study constructs an artificial intelligence (AI) translation model integrating the theory of ecological translation studies. The model incorporates a multidimensional adaptation mechanism for language, culture, and communicative function to address the shortcomings of existing models in cultural understanding and accurate expression. Based on the transformer architecture and combining cultural corpora with sentiment analysis technology, the study designs a translation process tailored for scenic area texts. The experimental part includes performance comparisons and simulation experiments. The results show that the proposed optimised model outperforms mainstream models such as M2M-100, mBART-50, and GPT-4 in terms of cultural adaptability, fluency, and information completeness. This study is innovative in combining AI translation with cultural adaptation and provides a feasible approach and method reference for the intelligent language services and cross-cultural communication of scenic areas.
